Toyota will launch an assembly plant in Russia by 2006, DaimlerChrysler is next. Japan’s largest car
producer Toyota Motor Corporation plans to build its assembly plant in Russia by 2006, according to
ITAR-TASS newswire. Reportedly, Nizhny Novgorod was chosen as the region of the plant’s future
location. At the same time, DaimlerChrysler reported it negotiates on production of its Mercedes-Benz
cars in Russia. The company considers different options, including an assembly plant and even
construction of its own producing unit. According to Handelsblatt newspaper, DaimlerChrysler already
acquired the first land plots near St. Petersburg.
