MPs approve energy law amendment liberalising natural gas markets. Chamber of deputies approved
the bill on natural gas market liberalisation in line with an amended energy law, which will allow for
full liberalisation of the gas market in 2007. The market will also become more transparent, as
transport, distribution, production, trade and services will be separated. In fact, the amendment had to
be passed already before the country’s accession to the EU in May and recently, the EU pointed out the
flaws in the Czech energy legislation, together with 17 other EU countries.
