Argentina gears up for Fund talks

Potential rapprochement between IMF and Argentina

Talks between Argentina and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are to be resumed before the end of the year, Finance Minister Guillermo Nielsen has said.

But Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernandez said negotiations will depend on the organization not imposing conditions on the country. While speaking about Argentina's economic crisis at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the official used the term 'constructive negotiations' to define the talks to be resumed in late 2005.
