The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is to work in tandem with the private sector in improving infrastructure in Nigeria.
IDB's president Ahmed Ali has announced the support of the bank for development of projects in member-countries. The Guardian quoted Ali as saying that it was the appropriate time for the bank to establish a presence in Nigeria, as the country is now implementing reforms.
Following consultations with the government, IDB has decided to work towards improving the country's transport sector and poverty reduction strategies. Ali said that the bank would invest in the roads network, linking Nigeria with other IDB member countries, to improve the relations between them.
