Former US Navy pilot and Goldie old boy takes top funding job at the Washington supra

The World Bank has a new head of funding. George Richardson, principal financial officer at the supranational, steps up to become director and head of capital markets with immediate effect.

He will report to Arunma Oteh, vice president and treasurer, and takes over from Doris Herrera-Poll who retired at the end of November 2015 after 29 years at the institution.

She has been director and global head of capital markets, treasury, since June 2007. Before that she was head of capital markets operations, treasury.

Before joining the World Bank, Richardson worked at Goldman Sachs, covering sovereigns and supranationals, including the World Bank. Before that he was a pilot in the US Navy, flying reconnaissance for eight years.
