Credit Suisse First Boston has tapped William Porter as its London-based European credit strategist. Porter, a director, fills a spot that had been vacant for close to a year after Evan Kalimtgis left the firm to join Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
Porter had been in the interest rate strategy group in London. That position will not be filled, as the group is adequately staffed, says Krishna Memani, the firm's global strategist based in New York. Memani says credit strategy serves a particularly strong function in Europe, in part, because the market is newer, and also because investors tend to have a more quantitative focus in general. Memani himself is a fairly recent addition to CSFB, having joined from Putnam Investments last fall (BW, 9/8).
