ABN Hires CIBC Banker

BondWeek is the leading news publication for fixed-income professionals, covering new deals, structures, asset-backed securities, industry and market activity.

ABN AMRO has hired Sam Mellor as an originator for its securitization team in London. He joins from CIBC World Markets in London, where he also worked as a securitization banker. Reached at ABN, Mellor declined to comment on his new position. Selwyn Rayzor, head of European securitization at ABN in London, did not return calls.

CIBC recently restructured its asset securitization business; it could not be determined if Mellor's move was related to this reorganization. Fazel Ahmed, who previously was in charge of European and Asian securitization from London, has left the firm along with Peter Warr and Matthew MacQuire, two other members of the London team. CIBC's securitization business is now said to be run on a global basis from Toronto and headed by David Allan. Angela Carter, a spokeswoman at CIBC in London, declined to comment, citing firm policy.
