Barclays Capital is looking to hire up to five researchers to support its fledgling mortgage business. The new hires follow on the heels of the firm's raiding of Citigroup's traders (BW, 6/7), and will support Barclays' mortgage business, which began making markets in September. "We have the trading and sales desks; now it's time to put the research team in place," said Bülent Baygün, head of U.S. fixed-income strategy.
Baygün said the new hires would support the existing desks and provide strategy recommendations to clients. He declined to specify who the new recruits would report to or when the firm wanted to seal the deals, but noted the firm is in the process of interviewing candidates.
