Calyon in London has hired Kenton Jerningan, head of high-yield sales at Tower Bridge Securities, to head up sales for its new high-yield business. He starts in June and will report to Tim Hall, head of European high yield. Both Jernigan and Hall declined comment.
The sales head is Hall's second hire since joining Calyon last fall to spearhead the bank's European high-yield effort (BW, 10/11). Jernigan has worked in the high-yield markets for over 10 years and has experience building high-yield distribution businesses. He moved to London in 2000 with SG Cowen to head up high-yield sales when Société Générale was last trying to build a European high-yield franchise. He later started Tower Bridge's high-yield desk from scratch in 2002.
Tower Bridge is a subsidiary of BGC Partners, the global brokerage business of Cantor Fitzgerald, which the firm spun out in 2004. Jernigan reported to Shaun Lynn, president of BGC Partners. He did not return calls by press time.
