Markit will acquire CDS IndexCo by the end of the year. CDS IndexCo owns the CDX credit derivative indices and the synthetic structured finance and loan indices ABX, CMBX and LCDX. CDS IndexCo is currently owned by a conglomerate of institutions including Barclays Capital, Bear Stearns, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs. In addition, Markit has recently acquired International Index Co. IIC owns the ITraxx Europe and iTraxx Asia credit derivative indices as well as the global family of iBoxx indices.
