ABS impatient for recognition by regulators

Global ABS was in part supposed to be a celebration of securitization’s recent popularity with Europe’s principle rulemakers, but bankers are still sceptical about how far a relaxation of capital charges can go.

With the backing of the European Central Bank and the Bank of England, which are putting pressure on rulemakers to loosen their treatment of securitization, there is hope that this could be a pivotal year for the market.
