BANKING - Tai's tenure comes to an end
Critics said an American-born Chinese would never survive in Singapore or at DBS, but Jackson Tai has proved them wrong. After five years as the bank's chief and eight overall, the 57-year-old will step down before the end of the year. Speculation remains about the reasons for his departure and opinions are divided about his time at the top, but Tai tells Rupert Walker he is leaving behind a strong franchise.
