SoFi shrugs off turmoil, markets new offering

Unfazed by widening spreads and investor doubt triggered by the Lending Club saga, San Francisco-based marketplace student loan platform SoFi is in the market with a $379.7m deal backed by refinancing loans.

The SoFi deal marks the first securitization to come to market since news of Lending Club CEO Renaud Laplanche's departure rocked the marketplace lending industry last week. Deal watchers have told GlobalCapital that they would be interested in seeing whether the news will affect the pricing of the deal.
