A series of unfortunate events

You know how holidays are supposed to be fun and relaxing? Well, my friend Two Pints is probably wishing breaks never existed after his eventful Easter weekend.

Having attended a party at Lan Kwai Fong, my friend actually thought lady luck was with him when he managed to get a cab within just five minutes of waiting.

Unfortunately for the poor bloke, that was as good as it got. Just as he was buckling up his seat belt, the door to his taxi was opened by a stranger. And before Two Pints even had time to react to the sudden intrusion, things took a violent turn when the man decided to punch him right in the face.

Dripping blood, my buddy vaguely heard the aggressor drunkenly say something about his girlfriend needing a cab desperately, although how punching someone achieves that is anyone’s guess.

Unsurprisingly, the culprit was long gone when the police eventually came to the scene, casually commenting that chances of finding the guy were slim. Very helpful indeed.

Two Pints then had a taste of the city’s hospital service, ending up with a couple of stitches above the eye following several gruelling hours of waiting in the emergency room.

But just when he thought it could not get worse, the chap reached home only to realise that he had lost his keys somewhere along the way.

A quick call to the management office or the locksmith would usually suffice in this scenario, but not for Two Pints. Because as fate would have it, even his phone had gone missing. Now that is truly a sobering holiday.
