EC puts securitization on green bond agenda

Green securitizations are figuring into the European Commission’s plan to make private finance for climate-friendly investments more popular in Europe, according to a paper published by the EC’s Directorate-General for Climate Action.

The paper, which sets out an agenda to improve the risk-return profile of green bonds and improve accounting and disclosure, includes items relating to the support of “‘high-level securitization’ in the context of the Capital Markets Union agenda” with an emphasis on green securitizations.
