Loan banks woo Kazakhs as Kazakhmys leads talks

Kazakhstan mining firm Kazakhmys is in talks with banks about refinancing loans, with officials saying the borrower is one of three Kazakh firms holding such discussions.

The Kazakhmys loan talks come as CEEMEA bankers look to shift their focus from Russia, which has become a difficult market to do business in following US and EU sanctions and escalating conflict in Ukraine. Kazakhstan could be a prime opportunistic beneficiary, four bankers agreed.
