Asifma releases guidelines for PB rebates

The Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (Asifma) has released its proposals for increasing the transparency of private bank rebates, recommending that they are written into offering circulars (OC).

The practice of offering rebates to private banks, which range from 25 cents to 75 cents, is common in Asia and acts as an incentive for these investors to buy into deals. However, there is no legal requirement for issuers to disclose the information in the OC. Some ...
