Temasek’s portfolio drops $39bn in just eight months

Singapore’s Temasek Holdings lost almost a third of its portfolio value in the eight months leading to the end of November 2008, a senior minister said on Tuesday.

Temasek’s portfolio fell in value from S$185bn ($123bn) in March to S$127bn in November, Lim Hwee Hua, Singapore’s senior minister of state for finance, told parliament.

Lim, however, said the 31% decline in value was not as drastic when compared to the 44% drop in the MSCI Singapore ...
