Zhang, Bird and Ashte to run Citi in Asia

Citi filled its top positions in Asia Pacific this week, picking Shengman Zhang as chairman and Stephen Bird and Shirish Apte as chief executives, following Ajay Banga’s departure at the end of June.

As chairman, Zhang is tasked with expanding the bank’s relationships with clients, regulators and government officials, while Bird will be responsible for northern Asia including Japan and Apte for southern Asia, including Australasia.
