Hybrids must absorb losses to have a role, says CEIOPS
The Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Supervisors (CEIOPS) said on Tuesday that while it recognised that there may be a role for high quality hybrids in tier one in insurance companies’ capital structures, this would only be the case if “in stressed situations they convert or write down to provide a higher quality of capital in the form of equity.”
