Better now than never

Several companies plan to list shares in Hong Kong and Singapore over the next few weeks, despite the woeful performance of some recent IPOs. That may look foolhardy but funding officials want to avoid jumbo deals coming soon — and as long as they don’t get too aggressive, they should be fine.

Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, Billion Industrial Holdings and China Flooring Holding are all considering the IPO market and could price deals within two weeks. This is far from the perfect time: recent new issues have performed poorly and there is plenty of bad news to numb investors’ appetite.
