Fitch to demand more credit enhancement for top RMBS

Bankers will have to add more credit enhancement to securitisations to get a triple-A rating, after Fitch Ratings revealed the results of a two month review of its rating methodology.

Fitch published four reports, on lenders’ mortgage insurance in RMBS, ABS criteria, RMBS criteria, and RMBS in Australia. The rating agency will give less weight to insurance — meaning borrowers will need to get credit enhancement from subordinated tranches or reserve accounts.
