Westpac latest Aussie to print covered MTNs

Westpac became the latest Australian bank to print its first covered bond private placements this week as the new jurisdiction for the asset class gets dealers and investors hot under the collar. Norwegian krone investors have been big buyers of the product so far.

Westpac sold a pair of 10 year MTNs totalling Nkr2.8bn ($472.1m) early this week — one on Monday and one on Tuesday. Bank of America Merrill Lynch placed both — Westpac’s first Australian covered bond private placements, according to Dealogic.
