Iberian banks warned on capital and funding
Banks in peripheral Europe are a long way from shaking off fears over their potential for further stress, with the International Monetary Fund this week warning that weak Spanish banks were threatening the stability of the country’s financial sector and analysts at Barclays suggesting that Italian lenders needed to change their funding strategies to reflect difficult conditions in capital markets.
