BEA’s Brian Li explains Shanghai listing plans

Bank of East Asia’s deputy chief executive Brian Li tells asiamoney.com why the lender is anxious to list in Shanghai as soon as possible. The firm is also eager to expand to 100 branches on the mainland in 2010.

Earlier this year, Bank of East Asia declared its interest in seeking a listing on the Shanghai stock market.

In doing so it is following in the footsteps of larger rivals HSBC Holdings and Standard Chartered, which are both known to be seeking mainland IPOs.
