U.S. negotiators are pressuring the Basel Committee on Bank Supervision to significantly increase the minimum capital requirements on banks being proposes.

U.S. negotiators are pressuring the Basel Committee on Bank Supervision to significantly increase the minimum capital requirements on banks being proposes. Michael Barr, assistant secretary of the Treasury, said the capital requirements may be even higher for riskier financial transactions.
