New Zealand treasurer eyes increasing bond issuance

Philip Combes, treasurer of the New Zealand Debt Management Office, tells asiamoney.com that he is keen for more foreign investors to buy the country’s debt, as it aims to raise its issuance levels.

New Zealand is keen to take advantage of increasing international investor interest in its government bonds to support its rising borrowing plans, according to the country’s treasurer.

The country’s government debt and that of neighbouring Australia have both been regarded as a safe haven.
