Basel Looks To Curb Bank Use Of Debt-Valuation Adjustment
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision said it is looking for a “full deduction” of an accounting rule known as debt-valuation adjustment, which allows banks to raise their profits and capital by writing down the value of their debt and derivatives when market prices decline.
