German Covered Bond Redemptions Sink

Redemptions of German Pfandbrief covered bonds are expected to hit between EUR105 billion ($138.6 billion) to EUR110 billion ($145.2 billion) in 2012, their lowest level since the mid-1990s, according to Commerzbank.

Redemptions of German Pfandbrief covered bonds are expected to hit between EUR105 billion ($138.6 billion) to EUR110 billion ($145.2 billion) in 2012, their lowest level since the mid-1990s, according to Commerzbank. Issuance is also expected to decline as a result of the European Central Bank’s liquidity program.
