China bond futures volumes to be limited

The country’s reopening of its government bond futures market is a step in the right direction but volumes will be hampered by strict controls on other areas of the country’s capital markets.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has decided to re-launch government bond futures, 17 years after shutting them down following a trading scandal, but analysts believe that trading volumes will remain low for now.
