Asia's portfolio integration hindered by LCY weakness

Intra-Asian trade and portfolio integration are driving capital market development but more needs to be done in local currency, say market experts.

The region’s markets are becoming more interlinked as Asian countries invest in each other’s debt and intra-regional trade rises but more needs to be done in local Asian currencies, as opposed to the US dollar, to drive rating upgrades and deepen credit markets.
