Derivatives Week is unveiling its Global Derivative Award winners in two stages this year. First up are the winners of the Global Derivatives Editorial Awards determined by the editorial team. The winners of the bank, interdealer broker and law firm awards will be decided by the results of the Global Derivatives Survey. The survey runs until July 22 for the bank and law firms, and runs until July 29 for the interdealer brokers.

The Method: Editorial Awards
The editorial awards are determined by market intelligence the editorial team gathered during the prior year in the course of covering the sector. The team meets with market officials from developed and emerging derivative markets and uses the feedback when deciding the award winner. Winners are not chosen based on the volume of industry support, but rather on a number of factors including innovation, market impact, performance, client feedback and uniqueness of approach.

The Method: Survey Awards
The Global Derivatives Survey is a comprehensive customer ranking of sellsiders in the credit, equity, fx, interest rate and inflation derivatives markets. There are separate surveys covering interdealer brokers across all asset classes, and law firms globally. The ranking for each question/category in the survey is calculated by all voted ratingsÑfrom 1-5 where 1=Poor and 5=Excellent. A report detailing the key findings of the survey will be published on Sept. 17. 2013.
