Just Retirement eases up after £395m IPO

Just Retirement completed a £395m IPO on Monday, with the specialist insurance firm’s shares priced in the middle of the original and revised ranges at 225p a share. But a slightly weak opening day turned into a big fall later in the week – the shares were down below 200p by Thursday evening.

The deal followed on from a £485m float from its peer Partnership Assurance in June. Both companies specialise in individually underwritten annuities and equity release lifetime mortgages, with bankers close to the deal suggesting that Just Retirement benefited from investors’ new-found familiarity with the sector.
