Argentina starts default countdown as min fin stands firm

International capital markets are facing a reprise of one of their most eerily familiar tales in the next month: the will-they-won’t-they tension of the run-up to an Argentina default, writes Oliver West.

Bondholder groups overwhelmingly, and with remarkable speed, rebuffed Argentina’s first proposal of restructuring terms this week.

 Three groups then told of their willingness to hold “good faith” negotiations and help Argentina on the path to a so-called “sustainable” debt burden.
