FIG market confounded as volatility reigns

FIG DCM officials say it is impossible to tell when banks could return to selling unsecured debt, with markets locked in a period of extreme volatility and uncertainty.

There has not been an unsecured bank bond transaction in euros in more than three weeks, with the last deal having arrived on February 21.

Issuers have shied away from the market because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has been causing sharp intra-day swing in credit spreads.
