BBVA honorary chair steps back amid spying scandal

Francisco González has temporarily resigned from the BBVA board until an investigation into spying is completed.

González will step down “until the investigation underway is completed, as he wants to avoid being used to harm BBVA,” according to the bank. 

González left as executive chair at the end of last year, and was succeeded by Carlos Torres Vila.
