EM issuers waiting for next year ‘will regret’ pickiness

Emerging markets borrowers are keeping clear of bond issuance, preferring to keep their powder dry for next year, in the hope of being able to get better spreads. But bankers say the situation will be no better then.

Conditions in the primary market have steadily worsened in the past few weeks. Deals have been pulled, and issuers that have found their way to the market have been forced to pay new issue premiums swollen beyond recognition.
