NordLB, Barclays suffer in EBA stress test

German and UK banks showed some of the lowest common equity tier one (CET1) ratios out of the 48 banks participating in the European Banking Authority’s stress test, in the adverse scenario tested. More than half the banks would also face distribution restrictions over the three years.

The stress test judged how banks’ capital ratios would look after three years of adverse economic scenarios in the EU from 2018 to 2020.

Overall the EBA thought the results showed that banks have boosted their capital robustness over the past few years.
