Those at Lehman Brothers on Monday, September 15, 2008 will remember the moment the lines between the London and New York offices went dead.
Everyone knew Lehman was crippled, but employees had gone home on Friday to reassuring messages from management, and most expected a rescue merger to be agreed over the weekend. They thought they would be coming in to work on Monday for a different bank.
