Cemig trades up to bring light to Lat Am

Brazilian utility Cemig ended a three week hiatus in offshore Latin American bond issuance this week and was swiftly followed by the Dominican Republic as the two high yield borrowers raised a combined $1.8bn.

New issue concessions on both deals looked generous, as expected, but after a torrid few weeks in market conditions DCM bankers covering the region were just delighted to see some activity.
