South African banks thirst for more deals as Asian lenders pile in

Loan bankers in South Africa are pining for more deals, to curb the compression of margins as the ranks of lenders to the region are swelled by money from the Middle East and Asia.

Three bankers at the Loan Market Association’s Sub-Saharan Africa Syndicated Loan Conference in Johannesburg on Wednesday lamented the scarcity of deals in the region.
