Covered bonds to continue hot Q1 streak

Some €26bn was issued in euro covered bonds in January, about 20% of 2017’s expected annual supply. That proportion is consistent with 2016, and suggests February and March will also be busy.

In 2016 almost 21% of the €126bn issued throughout the year came out in January. This year, 27 euro benchmarks were launched representing 20% of the €125bn or so many analysts expect to be issued this year.
