Lehman Hires Trio To Bolster European Presence

Lehman Brothers in London has hired three derivatives sales officials across equity and fixed income to expand the European regional coverage.

Lehman Brothers in London has hired three derivatives sales officials across equity and fixed income to expand the European regional coverage. The firm has been building up in Europe since luring a string of senior JPMorgan staffers close to two years ago (DW, 2/18/05).

Eva Weiss, a director and senior equity derivatives saleswoman covering Germany at Nomura, is set to join in a similar role. Weiss was on gardening leave and could not be reached. She is tipped to report in to Laurent Ichard, head of flow sales, who did not respond to messages by press time. Jessica Shepherd-Smith, spokeswoman for Nomura, did not respond to a message regarding a replacement for Weiss by press time.

For fixed income derivative sales, the house has hired Ramon Balje, head of structured solutions sales for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg at UBS in London, in a similar role. Balje was on gardening leave and Rowan Staines, spokeswoman for UBS, declined comment on a replacement for him at UBS.

The firm also lured another heavyweight salesman in the form of Mark Herne, senior U.K. fixed income derivatives marketer at Deutsche Bank. Herne, who could not be reached, is tipped to be reporting in to his former boss Raj Dhown who joined Lehman last year (DW, 9/30/05). Dhown did not respond to a message by press time.
