E-bond plan looks doomed to fail without fiscal union
The European sovereign funding landscape was in disarray again this week as politicians and officials were quick to shoot down suggestions from two senior ministers for a common eurozone sovereign bond. Agreement on the concept looked as unlikely as ever, in spite of Luxembourg prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker and Italian finance minister Giulio Tremonti making the most serious proposal seen so far.
