U.S. stocks soared on Wednesday, with the Dow surging more than 1,000 points, as investors tried to regain some of the steep losses suffered in the previous trading sessions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1,086.25 points, or 4.98 percent, to 22,878.45. The S&P 500 climbed 116.60 points, or 4.96 percent, to 2,467.70. Europe’s equity capital markets are going to reopen in 2019 against one of the most difficult macroeconomic backdrops in recent memory, after the FTSE 100 suffered its worst yearly fall since the financial crisis last year and most other major equity indices finished 2018 deeply in the red.
