Halyk mulls $300m prepayment

Halyk Bank has surprised its lenders by asking for permission to prepay a $300m syndicated loan. The borrower, considered by bankers one of the strongest financial institutions in Kazakhstan, sent a letter on Tuesday saying that it had excess liquidity and it was considering using that to repay the facility early.
