CSFB Installs Fixed Income Newcomer As Global Co-Head

Jerry Woods, managing director in fixed income and 20-plus year veteran of Morgan Stanley in New York, will join Credit Suisse First Boston next month as global co-head of fixed income. An official familiar with the new structure said Woods will work alongside Jim Healy, executive board member and global head of the emerging markets group, who will be named as the other co-head. CSFB watchers said Jack DiMaio, head of fixed income for North America, and Trevor Price, head of the firm's rates business, were passed over for the role of co-head in favor of Woods. DiMaio and Price did not return calls by press time.

Woods, who left Morgan Stanley last week (DW, 1/20), is close to CSFB's CEO, John Mack, according to officials familiar with the move. The hire reflects Mack's continuing effort to fill senior positions with loyal lieutenants from Morgan Stanley. Mack's secretary referred calls to Cristina von Bargen, spokeswoman, who declined comment.

Both Woods and Healy will report to Brady Dougan co-president of institutional securities. Woods did not return calls and Healy declined comment. Dougan's secretary referred calls to Bargen.

Officials at Morgan Stanley referred calls to Judy Hitchen, a spokeswoman in New York, who declined comment.
