Robert Brennan, formerWestLB head of derivatives for Asia, has resurfaced at Shinsei Bank in Tokyo as global head of asset liability management. He left WestLB in August after nine years. He had been about to transfer to London from the WestLB Tokyo office, where he would then act as treasurer for the U.K. (DW, 6/23). According to one former WestLB colleague he moved to Shinsei because he decided he did not want to leave Asia. Brennan, reached at Shinsei, declined to comment on the move.
The loss for WestLB comes alongside two others. Stephen Withers, general manager and trader, left to join Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria as head of trading on its nascent Asian hub in Hong Kong (DW, 12/4). In October Wen Shiau also resigned as head of regional sales in Hong Kong, after joining in April. Shiau confirmed he is not working elsewhere yet and declined to give reasons for his departure. Officials at WestLB did not return calls.
