No more slow-burning cash as RWE sets tone with jumbo

RWE gave the loan market a small amount of encouragement this week after mandating the first jumbo deal of 2009.

The German utility secured a Eu9bn facility to back its cash bid for Essent, a Dutch peer.

Ten banks provided the debt: Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas, Calyon, Commerzbank, Credit Suisse, HVB, JPMorgan, LBBW, Société Générale and WestLB.
