Japan offers to guarantee Indonesian Samurai bonds

Japan pledged to guarantee bonds issued by the Republic of Indonesia in the Samurai market on Saturday, raising hopes for Indonesia’s first deal in the format.

Shinsuke Suematsu, Japanese parliamentary secretary for finance and Indonesia’s finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reached the agreement in Phuket, Thailand, on Saturday during talks ahead of a gathering of Asian finance ministers.
